Since 2002 the Quartet Pererê has been dedicated to Brazilian instrumental music. In its ongoing reflection on the influences of the musical past and its continued reflection on contemporary works, they have been inspired by the Saci Pererê – a “Brazilic” myths’ figure fixed in the imagination and within popular culture –, for its dialectical sound, both imaginative and allegorical. Their CD "Balaio”, 2009, is a mixture of tradition and modernity, with its themes of the Brazilian tradition alongside composers like Villa-Lobos, Guinga, Zeca Collares and Madredeus.
